167th Anniversary of the American Dental Association
On August 3, 1859 a national dental meeting was held in Niagara Falls, NY at the International Hotel, which was located on what was then the original Main Street and Cherry Street. That location today is now Old Falls Street and Rainbow Blvd. At the annual session, which included dentists from Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York State began lectures and discussions surrounding oral health.
What resulted were ethical and scientific disagreements which prompted 26 members of the meeting to leave and walk across the street to Grant Hall Hotel. When they emerged from that separate discussion was the founding of the American Dental Association (ADA) on August 4, 1859, 167 years ago. Niagara Falls, NY was the birthplace of organized dentistry as we know it today.
Today, the ADA supports over 152,000 members nationwide and supports oral health for our country and internationally across the globe. It’s part of our WNY heritage and is worth celebrating. On August 4, 2026, a plaque was unveiled celebrating that milestone and the recognition of WNYs importance in a growing and prosperous nation.

2026 Chautauqua Dental Congress
The 2026 Chautauqua Dental Congress was a big success!! Our Memorial Lecture Series remembering Dr. Sebastian Ciancio has been a 40-year program he developed for the dental community. Three speakers for the dentists, three speakers for hygienists and staff. We look forward to hosting this great event again next year (same location) on June 24 & 25, 2027.

American Dental Association SIGNING DAY for D4's at UBSDM - We held a very successful Signing Day for graduating students at UB's School of Dental Medicine. There are 120 graduates in this year's D4 class, and most of them attending Signing Day at The Steer in Buffalo on Friday, April 24th. Welcome to organized dentistry!
